The following are important passages for honest and sincere followers of Christ who wish to enter through that narrow gait and follow Jesus.
If you seek Him as instructed in the gospel, you must surrender everything.
In order to please the Lord, hear His voice, be known by Him, and follow Him, nothing can be held back.
To receive the gift of eternal life as Jesus said in John 10:26-28, the following scriptures are road maps that enable us to understand how to enter into that narrow gait.
I am convinced there is no other way but within the beauty of holiness.
His grace is powerful to guide us to Him and to overcome unto the end.
Oh, what joy awaits those at the end of the road!
We are instructed to lead productive, humble, and simple lives as dedicated servants of The Lord.
We are to work zealously for Him and to seek His glorious coming.
Nothing else matters. If it does, you are already off the path and redirection is in order.
Below are scriptures that God wants applied to our lives.
They are not exhaustive but in my brief study on the word holiness They include promises, instruction, and inspiration.
I hope you find this helpful. Please consider them with prayer, reverence, and fear:
“A highway will be there, a roadway, And it will be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean will not travel on it, But it will be for him who walks that way, And fools will not wander on it.
No lion will be there, Nor will any vicious beast go up on it;
These will not be found there. But the redeemed will walk there,
And the ransomed of the LORD will return And come with joyful shouting to Zion,
With everlasting joy upon their heads.
They will find gladness and joy, And sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
“That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.”
“What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace?
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey;
whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh:
for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity;
even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved,
let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit,
perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
2 Corinthians 7:11
“If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
that, in reference to your former manner of life,
you lay aside the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
Be ye angry, and sin not:
let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Neither give place to the devil.
Let him that stole steal no more:
but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good,
that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth,
but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, by whom ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:18 – 32
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification;
that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;
that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
and that no man transgress and defraud his brother in the matter
because the Lord is the avenger in all these things,
just as we also told you before and solemnly warned you.
For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.
So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.”
1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
“But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers,
not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands,
that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works:
in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
Sound speech, that cannot be condemned;
that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters,
and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity;
that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ”
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God;
lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled”
Jesus calls us to love Him with all our heart, all our mind, and all our strength.
If you are not doing this, you are not fulfilling the Law of Christ from which all are called to obey.
The road to Heaven is narrow and few there be that find it.
Most go down a broad path believing they can continue to sin because of God’s grace.
We trample on the gospel when we do such things.
There will be no redemption for willing sinners in the Day of Christ.
Repent, and turn from any and all sin that keeps you from holiness of mind and purity of heart.
No active sinful nature, no uncleanness, no double mindedness, no wickedness can walk this road.
Only the redeemed, truly repentant, and joyful May tread there.
Those that walk this road find everlasting gladness. Sorrow and sin will be no more.
Are you on this road?
Only those who seek his face and search for it like treasures of silver and gold will find it.
The world has nothing to offer but death and sorrow.
Are you on your knees? Are you really one of Jesus’ disciples? Are you truly seeking Him or just want to be a ‘saved’ Christian?
These are questions I have asked of myself and am convinced that God wants oneness of mind in the holiness of God.
He does not want a dirty, stained harlot, a worldly and compromised bride.
He wants a dedicated bride committed to follow Him wherever He leads.
I pray you remain on this road, return to it, or seek to walk it path.
It requires great sacrifice and complete submission. It may separate you from your family and friends who do not walk this path.
What is keeping you off the highway to holiness?
Nothing in your life is that valuable.
If something or someone is, you are on the broad path that the whole world and most of the church is walking.
It leads to emptiness, bitterness, sorrow, and destruction.
Do the scriptures above reflect your life? If they don’t, you need to consider your steps.
God is merciful and wants you dine with Him, to walk with Him, to see His face.
Seek His holiness. He will pull you under His wings, care for you, and eventually take you home.
